DNA Recruit is delighted to partner with a prestigious and dynamic large-scale events venue to find their next Head of Venue – Commercial (General Manager). If you’re an accomplished leader with a proven track record in multi-site event venue operations or managing large-scale event spaces, this could be your next great career move.
About the Role
As the Head of Venue – Commercial, you will be at the heart of a vibrant, high-capacity venue that hosts up to a 7,000 capacity. The role calls for an innovative and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the vision to drive growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. Reporting to the Director, you will lead and inspire a talented team of sales, operations, and facility management professionals, ensuring that the venue operates at the highest standard.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Sales Leadership: Develop and implement successful sales strategies, foster client relationships, oversee business development, and ensure sales targets and KPIs are met.
- Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with the marketing team to create data-driven marketing initiatives that align with the venue’s goals.
- Financial Oversight: Own and manage the venue’s P&Ls, oversee cost forecasting, and ensure efficient budget management.
- Operational Excellence: Uphold the highest standards of operational policies and compliance, leading the team to consistently deliver exceptional events.
- Facilities Management: Lead the facilities management team to ensure best practices and cost control, aligning with lease agreements and legal requirements.
- New Projects: Play a key role in consulting on and activating new space projects to expand the venue’s footprint and capabilities.
- Proven Leadership: Minimum of 5 years in a senior commercial management role within large-scale or multi-site event venues.
- Strategic Vision: Demonstrable experience in executing business and commercial strategies that drive growth and enhance client satisfaction.
- Team Inspiration: Experience leading cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and facilities management.
- Financial Acumen: Strong background in P&L management, financial reporting, and budget oversight.
- Exceptional Communicator: Ability to build rapport with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Industry Insight: Knowledge of the local venue market and key event industry players.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of relevant compliance and legislation.
- Personal Licence Holder
- Relevant H&S qualifications (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH)
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Event Works, or project management software like Monday.com
- SIA qualification
